.. _ubuntu: Ubuntu ====== Installing the VLC media player on the Ubuntu operating system can be done in three different ways; Installing VLC Using Ubuntu Software center +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1. Click the search button 🔎 on the top right and search for VLC. 3. Click on **Install**. Installing VLC from Snap store .. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ .. 1. Open the `snapstore website `_ .. 2. On the search bar, type in VLC and click on the press enter. .. 3. After the search has been displayed on your screen, click on the VLC cone icon to trigger its installation. .. 4. On the VLC installation homepage, click on the install button at the top right of your screen. After clicking on install, a dropdown menu is shown asking you to choose your prefered method of installation the particaular way you intend to instal .. 3. Click on the VLC media player icon will be displayed on the screen, .. 1. Open the `VLC website `_ on your browser. .. 2. Open the Ubunto Software `website `_ .. install snap store $ sudo snap install snap-store .. Method 3: Using Advanced Package Tool (or APT) for Ubuntu .. Open apt://vlc in a web browser .. Click on Open link under the Launch Application dialog .. Click on Install in the Install additional software dialog .. Authenticate with your login password .. VLC will start to download and install in Ubuntu .. These were the three methods to downlaod and install VLC Media Player for Ubuntu Linux. .. If you want to remove the application from your system, then go the the Ubuntu Software utility and locate VLC. .. Then, you can easily remove it. Download VLC through your Command Prompt ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1. Click on the **Show Applications** button. 2. On your terminal, run the following commands ``sudo apt-get update`` and provide the sudo password for authentication 4.
